Bread & Art Gallery

This project is located in Zhengdong MixC. XIAOOU OFFICE upholds the concept of a "bread art gallery," breaking away from the conventional cozy formula of traditional bakery spaces. It blends understated luxury with natural aesthetics to create a bakery space in a core urban commercial district that combines a light luxury character with a healing experience.

Baking & A New Language

On the exterior facade, we used Gucci black marble and silver stainless steel lines throughout to outline the entire store, stepping out of the conventional cozy design framework of traditional bakeries and giving the space a light luxury quality unique to high-end commercial settings. When night falls, embedded lighting slowly spreads across the marble surface, adding a light luxury atmosphere to the store entrance while cleverly echoing the warmth that bread itself brings.

In addition, a bread star installation array was specially designed for the storefront. Through a sculptural three-dimensional arrangement, it materializes the concept of "bread as an everyday gift"—each "bread star" is both decoration and a silent invitation to consumers. Thanks to the store's advantage of being located at the corner of the complex, this visual installation can directly integrate into customers' shopping circulation, allowing people to easily catch the store's highlights while walking and laying the visual foundation for "bakery service within reach."

Light Luxury & RawStepping inside, the first thing that comes into view is a large area of tin-gray matte aluminum panels, continuing the understated luxury tone of the exterior facade—the neat seams and metallic texture further emphasize the space's modern art gallery character.

We used whole blocks of raw stone as raw material to create the cashier counter and display counter, which is very rare for most stores. The rugged and plain texture of the raw stone creates tension with the refined light luxury of the environment, integrating natural elements into the consumer experience. Inside the store, we installed a 27-meter-long beige curtain, arranged along the circulation of the bread art gallery and running through the entire area. Its inspiration comes from the hanging curtains of art corridors. Light filters through the fabric into a soft mist. Under illumination, it gives off a warm halo, echoing the warmth that bread naturally carries and injecting a touch of softness and breathability into the space of hardcore materials.

To solve the problem of the complex ceiling structure in the kitchen, storage, and coffee bar areas, we used beige curtains to unify the visual effect and extended them along the main circulation, both concealing equipment and pipelines and integrating the originally fragmented upper field of view into a coherent whole.

Light Luxury & Diversity

In the seating area, we mixed and matched tables and chairs, including leather sofa chairs with metal lines and fabric upholstered sofa seats. The coffee table is specially made of basalt, whose rough and authentic touch makes customers feel as if they are in nature when they touch it. Different materials blend understatedly here, allowing customers to immerse themselves in an atmosphere that combines both a raw sense and light luxury quality while relaxing.

In the seating area, in addition to small tables, we specially set up a large round table, aiming to create a warm and banquet-like social atmosphere in the public space, in keeping with the store's overall light luxury tone.

Around the round table, we paired chairs of different shapes and styles. Their design inspiration comes from the eclectic seating styles of European courts—historically, certain court banquets in Europe often used chairs of different forms to symbolize the different statuses and personalities of guests. This also implies that consumers from different backgrounds gather here because of their love for Q-Flavorful bread. The floral installation on the tabletop injects a touch of the relaxed vitality of an outdoor banquet into the scene, as if one were on a garden lawn with birdsong and fragrant flowers.

The space lighting adopts a soft halo system like a lunar corona, guiding customers to immerse themselves in the natural tranquility of the "bread art gallery" amid warmth and haziness. This atmosphere also extends to detailed props: we customized metal bread boxes for the cashier and display areas. Their design inspiration is drawn from vintage suitcases of the last century, and with an elegant light luxury texture, they complement the overall temperament of the space.

Amid the noise and haste of the city, Q-Flavorful Bakery hopes to become a healing corner. Here you can choose your favorite bread and feel light and shadow quietly flowing across the floor; you can also sit in the seating area and immerse yourself in an atmosphere of light luxury and rawness, letting body and mind quietly relax. Through design, we blur the boundaries between interior and nature, hardness and softness, creating a humanistic space where light luxury and warmth coexist.
